Job Summary:
The Prototype Press Operator safely set up two piece dies and operate prototype hydraulic presses to produce stampings, utilizing various high strength metals. Understand and apply press techniques; work quickly and skillfully with the hands; accept responsibility for the work performed; visualize what the finished product should look like; operate press room equipment with skill.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and operation of Hydraulic Press; assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press according to specifications within target completion times.
- Barber dies including class A surfaces.
- Try out dies within target completion times.
- Cut blanks for other dies.
- Run quality parts with a goal to meet or exceed production targets.
- Perform spotting of tools.
- Develop tooling concepts / blanks.
- Identity problems and recommend solutions.
- Safely and independently all presses operate including hydraulic and mechanical.
- Coordinates with operators & supervision to maintain production schedule and run rates.
- Produces the required quantity of parts within established time, specifications and tolerances.
- Identifies malfunctions or out-of-tolerance parts; adjusts dies and controls of machine to correct errors.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma, preferred
Minimum 2 year experience, preferred
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
