Description
POSITION TITLE: Prototype Manufacturing Engineer
POSITION REPORTS TO: Prototype Manager
DEPARTMENT: Development
POSITION EFFECTIVE: 10/02/2024
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Prototype Manufacturing Engineer supports the prototype production team with anything needed to manufacture job requests including the programming of CNC equipment. They will be responsible for tracking modifications from manufacturing partners, sales and customers then updating engineering in preparation for production. Follow formal QC prototype process to properly test and evaluate prototypes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows the development change process making updates to engineering documentation resulting in change requests from manufacturing partners and prototype reviews.
- Supports the Prototype Supervisor to assure prototypes are tracking on schedule and ship on time.
- Create CNC, metal laser and any other programs necessary to manufacture prototypes.
- Utilizes SolidWorks following the expectations of the Engineering Manager to formally make changes and develop prototype concepts like the Design Engineer role.
- Responsible for following the QC process of all prototypes and documenting accordingly.
- Supports engineering as needed by owning projects assigned.
- Assists in fielding questions and issues related to the engineering and manufacturing of prototypes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in CAD, SolidWorks is a plus.
- Manufacturing equipment and material knowledge in metal, wood and plastics.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work, and eye for quality.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management programs specifically the Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills with active listening skills, ability to receive input from others and give positive feedback.
- Good organizational and time management skills, ability to multitask.
- Ability to respond to internal and external customers in a professional and efficient manner.
- Reacts quickly, confident decision maker.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field required
- 2 or more years of experience in the development of custom solutions utilizing manufacturing methods in wood, metal and plastics.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Varying work schedules based on business needs are sometimes required
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Must have a valid driver's license and/or ID
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard
- Ability to read a variety of materials
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines
