Propane Service Technician
Full-Time | $25.00–$35.00 Per Hour | 40–50 Hours Per Week
Excellent Compensation | Medical Insurance | Retirement Plan | Paid Vacation
Are you mechanically inclined, enjoy working outdoors, and take pride in providing outstanding customer service? We're looking for a dependable, safety-conscious Propane Service Technician to join our team!
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and working directly with customers. You'll be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial propane systems and equipment.
We're a seasonal propane business, which means workloads can vary throughout the year. During peak seasons, the schedule can be busy and demanding. During warmer, slower months, technicians are expected to assist with other operational duties, including equipment maintenance, tank painting, groundskeeping, truck detailing, and other general support activities.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, hardworking, safety-minded, and willing to pitch in wherever needed. If you enjoy variety in your work and want to be part of a team that takes pride in doing things right, we'd love to hear from you!
What You'll Be Doing
As a Propane Service Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Install propane tanks, piping, regulators, and related equipment in accordance with NFPA 54, NFPA 58, applicable regulations, and company procedures.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair propane system issues, including gas leaks, tank problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Perform propane gas checks and comprehensive system safety inspections.
- Conduct leak checks to verify the safety and integrity of propane systems.
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair propane heaters, fireplaces, cookstoves, and other propane appliances.
- Pick up, inspect, maintain, and repair propane cylinders and tanks as needed.
- Safely operate company vehicles and truck-mounted cranes.
- Complete all required service paperwork accurately, legibly, and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional company service truck.
- Cross-train in other areas of propane operations to support customer needs and business demands.
- Participate in the company on-call rotation and work additional hours when necessary to meet customer needs.
- Assist with propane cylinder deliveries when needed.
- Operate a bobtail truck and make bulk propane deliveries when properly licensed and qualified.
- Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and company in-services.
- Assist with general facility and fleet maintenance during slower seasons, including painting propane tanks, mowing grass, detailing trucks, and other operational duties.
- Maintain a professional attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to exceptional customer service.
What We're Looking For
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexible and willing to perform a variety of duties throughout the year.
- Ability to work outdoors and handle the physical demands of the position.
- Familiarity with the local geographical area.
- Knowledge of Federal and State DOT regulations is preferred.
- Previous propane, HVAC, plumbing, gas service, or mechanical experience is a plus.

- Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement.
- Tanker endorsement.

- Approximately 40–50 hours per week, depending on seasonal business demands.
