The Supervisor of Promotional Accounting oversees all promotional accounting processes, and related financial controls. This role leads a team responsible for processing, validating, and analyzing promotional programs and associated financial transactions. The Supervisor ensures promotional spend is accurate, compliant with company policies, aligned with financial objectives, and properly reflected in the financial statements. This position partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Brokers, Customer Service, and IT to support customer programs, manage risk, and maintain strong internal controls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead Promotional Accounting members, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and ongoing development.
- Manage workload distribution, establish team priorities, and ensure service-level expectations are met.
- Provide clear direction, escalate issues appropriately, and support decision-making within the team.
- Conduct PMD preparation, reviews, and monthly Scorecard reporting for team members.
Promotional Accounting
- Oversee review, validation, and accounting of promotional activities to ensure compliance with agreements, policies, and financial standards.
- Oversee and lead on complex Vistex issues, validations, settlements, and customer-facing promotional documentation.
- Monitor and reconcile promotional accruals, true-ups, and liability balances in accordance with GAAP.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to ensure promotional programs support financial goals and align with operational strategies.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing financial reports, analyses, and month-end/year-end schedules related to promotional spend.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and maintain documented processes, SOPs, workflows, and best practices for promotional accounting functions.
- Collaborate with the System Specialist and IT to onboard customers using RPA and other automated systems.
- Identify automation opportunities, eliminate inefficiencies, and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with current logistics policies, customer requirements, and contract terms.
- Support the Manager in designing and implementing new processes to meet company performance goals.
Financial Operations & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Brokers, Logistics, and Customer Service to ensure programs and deductions are processed correctly and timely.
- Provide guidance on interpretation of promotional agreements and financial impacts.
- Deliver reporting and insights to management regarding promotional spend and operational performance.
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, trade promotions, or related fields.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience work with SAP, Vistex system preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of GAAP, internal controls and accrual accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Exposure to robotic or automated processing systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial interpretation skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and validate promotional agreements and financial documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of developing and guiding teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- In office position.
- Minimal travel when needed.

$55,366.00 - $93,842.00
