The Quick Reaction Capabilities (QRC) Group at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), has an exciting opportunity, in Poway California, for a Project Manager to oversee segments of a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contract to include subcontract suppliers and GA Affiliates. This position reports to a Program Manager.

Project Manager II is responsible for leading and managing project activities that rely on external suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors in support of program objectives. This role plans, coordinates, and monitors subcontracted and supplier-provided work to ensure delivery in accordance with technical, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities involving intercompany and external subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with Subcontracts and Supply Chain to ensure statements of work, purchase orders, and delivery schedules support project requirements and constraints.
  • Serve as the primary project interface for day‑to‑day coordination with key subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance against scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets.
  • Lead regular internal and external status reviews focused on subcontractor and supplier performance, risks, issues, and action items.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues related to external suppliers (e.g., schedule slips, capacity limitations, quality escapes, technical challenges) and maintain risk/issue logs with mitigation plans and owners.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other functions to resolve technical and quality issues affecting subcontractor and supplier deliverables, and track closure of corrective actions.
  • Ensure that subcontractor and supplier activities are conducted in accordance with program requirements, statements of work, specifications, and applicable internal procedures.
  • If needed, prepare and deliver project reports, briefings, and presentations summarizing subcontractor and supplier status, risks, and key decisions for internal leadership and, when appropriate, customers.
  • Coordinate with Finance to support cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting for subcontracted and supplier‑related work.
  • Support proposal activities and inputs related to subcontractors and suppliers for new or follow‑on work.
  • Has a strong aviation, depot and supply chain background and experience with government acquisition programs, risk management, SAP and MS Office are highly desired.
  • Travel up to 25% is required to support supplier meetings which will occur in the US.
  • Perform other project management duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and nine or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least three of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Must possess:
    • The ability to initiate, plan and manage projects.
    • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a wide range of complex issues.
    • Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
