Reporting to the Director of Project Management this role is responsible for the planning, management, communication, coordination and financial control of projects. The Project Manager II builds and monitors work plans, the project budget, and develops the detailed schedule in conjunction with other project leaders across appropriate internal departments. This is a vital role in helping ensure that client satisfaction is achieved, communication is effective among both internal and external teams, data is maintained in appropriate systems and project financial goals are met. While the PM II role has no direct staff reports, this role has project-based leadership accountabilities and responsibilities.
The aptitude of the Project Manager II role is of proficiency; ensuring every aspect of a project is well-organized, runs smoothly and remains aligned with overall client/ stakeholder/ company objectives including project schedule and budget. The PM II must have 3-6 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication or construction trades. The PM II proactively manages project schedules and is a hub for all scheduling updates as well as a solution driver for unforeseen project challenges. The PM II role necessitates a proactive, resourceful and solutions focused attitude/ approach. Proficiency in leadership, team motivation and negotiation skills are all pertinent to career development.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
Managing multiple projects simultaneously, of small to large scope, effectively during all phases until project completion. Project volume for the PM II role will be $3 to $6 million annually
Serves as the primary client contact and is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day client relationship throughout the life of the project
Coordinate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives
Ensure that clients’ needs are met as the project evolves
Partner with various internal teams as needed for successful project completion (i.e., Designers, Engineers, Project Engineers, Account Managers, etc.)
Monitor and track project progress and handle any issues that arise
Act proactively when it comes to clarity of client direction/needs and/or managing timeline and budget expectations. Communicate day-to-day schedule needs externally
Own project scope and closely monitor any scope creep or project delays. Be an advocate for project margin and take ownership of necessary change orders
Act as the point of contact and communicate project status effectively with all internal departments, and all levels of the company
Report and escalate any issues to the Director of Project Management as needed
Proactively and appropriately escalates conversations that might be especially difficult or beyond expertise
Effectively focused on process details by receiving, interpreting, and executing information from both internal and external clients
Works with Production Manager, Production Coordinator and Project Engineer on client requests, project production schedules and deliverables
3-6 years of fabrication experience In the manufacturing, construction, or general building trades Industry
Understands client needs and becomes their advocate as needed
Provide support through client communication, internal interaction with design, and overseeing, monitoring, and tracking progress through the fabrication and installation phase
Support and contribute to the development of client proposals in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing team
Maintain & update project and client information in respective online Project Management systems
Review and confirm revenue allocation and projected schedules for relevant accounts and projects
Coordinate and relay internal communication from client meetings to all designated individuals
Maintain project files and data via Wrike, Evernote, Google Drive, Salesforce, Bluebeam, Zoom Meeting, Concur and Project Management drive
Work monthly with the internal Accounting department for client invoicing and collections
Weekly Salesforce updates to include revenue allocation changes, date changes, change orders, PE assignments, etc.
Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, changes, and updates to appropriate teams
Follow protocol for internal processes and be an advocate to improve processes where needed
Ownership and monthly tracking of project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
Develop comprehensive project plans including schedules, budgets, and deliverables to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
Consistently demonstrate leadership skills to all internal and external team members and continue to develop and enhance those skills
Consistently demonstrate diplomacy in communication: ability to navigate tough conversations, either internally or with client, with the goal of striving for the best solution for both parties

Ability to successfully use online systems to track and monitor client projects, organize priorities and manage calendar milestones across all projects

Ability to manage multiple, medium to large size projects of a custom nature simultaneously
Ability to work within several teams and effectively meet deadlines in all areas
Travel and overtime will be required at times
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program preferred
6-8 years of experience in a project manager or construction management role or another relevant industry required
PMP certificate a plus
