Solar Turbines Incorporated, headquartered in San Diego, California, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. Solar manufactures the world’s most widely used family of mid-sized industrial gas turbines, ranging from 1 to 23 megawatts. Solar is a leading provider of energy solutions, featuring an extensive line of gas turbine-powered compressor sets.

Fleet Assessment Services (FAS), which rolls up to Customer Services Business Development, is a global team of Field Engineers (FEs), Project Managers (FAS PM), and Project Application Engineers (FAS PAEs) who serve as customer-facing turbomachinery consultants. A Fleet Assessment is intended to help customers make the difficult investment decisions for updating package systems and components over the life of their equipment to maintain operational KPIs (availability, reliability, etc.) and manage condition and obsolescence risk. FAS works closely with external customers to combine clear assessment data, extensive turbomachinery experience, and modern technology to extend the economic life of their aging equipment. Utilizing a consultative approach, FAS assists customers in defining actions to optimize performance, integrity, and sustainability of brownfield Solar turbomachinery. Solutions are designed to be consistent with customer objectives and budgets, and are measurable through improved safety, reliability, and profitability. FAS' goal is to increase customer engagement and drive CS growth through sales of existing core products and services.

What you will do:

The primary role of the FAS Project Manager (FAS PM) is delivering the Fleet Assessment Services as defined by the MMS contract or FAS Purchase order. The FAS PM will coordinate with the Solar team to assist customers in defining the actions needed to optimize their existing Solar equipment based on the results of the FAS assessment and the customer's long term goals.
This customer support includes close collaboration with the sales team, operations team, and district to make sure that Solar is providing a holistic strategy of support for customers. This position provides bridges all aftermarket products and services through close collaboration with package refurbishment, controls retrofits, package system upgrades (engine uprates, engine conversions, compressor restages, fuel, seal, start, fire system upgrades, etc.), technical training, condition based engineering, MMS Long Term Service Agreements, service parts, asset redeployment, and new equipment. This individual will collaborate closely with customers, Field Service, Machinery Management Services, CS Marketing, CS Sales, Service Parts, CS PAE and Overhaul.

FAS PMs also are each responsible for managing program(s) for continuous improvement. These programs are assigned typically on an annual basis and evolve based on business need.

• Coordinating resources across all major business units of the company and external customers for complex projects.
• Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems. Responsible for high financial impact projects and manages complex technical and commercial solutions.
• Plans, schedules and manages the execution of projects.

Summary Pay Range:

$120,600.00 - $180,900.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
