Position Summary: The PM Lead is responsible for overseeing the project management function across the organization. This role involves leading a team of project managers, ensuring the successful execution of projects, and aligning project objectives with organizational goals. The Lead will implement best practices in project management, drive process improvements, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project management strategies that align with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Create and communicate a project vision that aligns the project team and drives action for each project.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  • Monitor and manage project-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Lead and mentor the project management team, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Establish project governance frameworks and reporting structures to track progress and performance.
  • Guide project teams to collaborate with the right people at the right time.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
  • Standardize project management methodologies and tools across the organization.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project success and team performance.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management on project status and outcomes.
  • Promote safety conscientiousness among staff and implement best practices around safety.
  • Be a champion for CMD both internally and externally. Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction through a positive and solution-oriented approach.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Foster an environment where employees are encouraged to suggest improvements and participate in decision-making.
  • Coach, train, and mentor staff for performance objectives. Assist with SMART goals that align with departmental strategy and employee development. Provide continuous feedback one-on-one.
  • Address and resolve conflict early. 
  • Perform routine supervisory functions in accordance with state and federal employment law.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficient in project management software and tools. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level of adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.

Work environment: CMD is located in Appleton, WI. Our three facilities operate by secure entry, are well lit, air temperature controlled for comfort, and clean with low noise. Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Capacity to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, and videoconferencing.
  • Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines and protocols including emergency procedures.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Status: Full-time, exempt.

Travel: Occasional travel to a customer site or work-related event may be required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, required.
  • 6+ years of experience in project management, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or similar strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects and leading project teams.
