Job Description:
Project Engineer III – Value Engineering (VE)
The Value Engineering Project Engineer III leads cross-functional initiatives focused on cost reduction, product optimization, and continuous improvement while maintaining performance, durability, and user value. This role operates within the project leader hierarchy and collaborates closely with global engineering, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, and product management teams to drive VE strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead multiple low to moderately complex Value Engineering projects from concept through implementation
Drive product teardowns, benchmarking, cost modeling, and opportunity identification
Develop and execute project plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies
Lead technical tradeoff discussions focused on cost, performance, and schedule
Interface with global suppliers to develop cost-effective design solutions within process capabilities
Validate alternative materials, components, and supplier proposals
Coordinate qualification testing to ensure safety, durability, and performance requirements
Track project progress and provide regular updates to leadership on savings, risks, and timelines
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Finance, Product Management, etc.) to ensure successful implementation
Support production and continuous improvement initiatives across global manufacturing locations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
4+ years of relevant engineering experience
Experience managing product development or Value Engineering projects
Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
Results driven and deadline orientated
Ability to manage several simultaneous projects to aggressive schedules and results
Ability to handle fast paced, and agile culture
Experience with DFMA, cost modeling, and root cause analysis
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills
Experience with global suppliers and overseas manufacturing environments
Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation techniques
Experience with teardown benchmarking and cost optimization strategies
Ability to draft comprehensive test plans and specifications
10% international travel required
