Job Overview:

**Project Engineer / Coordinator — Capital Projects

**

Houston, TX · Onsite · $130,000–$150,000 · Direct hire

A petrochemical manufacturer in the Houston area is hiring a Project Engineer / Coordinator to run its capital and debottlenecking projects. You would report to the Plant Manager and own projects end to end — scope, cost, schedule, contractors, close-out.

This is a hands-on individual contributor seat, not a people-management job. You run the projects yourself and direct the nested contractors who do the work. Projects typically run $100,000 to $500,000, with the occasional larger one.

**What you would do

**

  • Lead capital and debottlenecking projects from definition through implementation and close-out

  • Develop project scope, cost estimates, budgets and schedules, then hold the project to them

  • Coordinate contractors day to day — bid evaluation, contract coordination, cost control, invoice review

  • Support plant turnarounds from a capital projects standpoint

  • Keep Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, vendors and contractors aligned across the project lifecycle

  • Work in a safety-focused chemical plant environment

**What you need

**

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering — required

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including leading capital and debottlenecking projects in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment

  • Track record building scope, cost estimates, budgets and schedules and delivering against them

  • Strong vendor and contractor management — bids, contracts, cost control, invoices

  • Experience coordinating turnarounds or major capital projects while still supporting day-to-day contractor needs

  • PMP or similar project management certification preferred

  • Polymerization experience is a major plus

**Details

**

  • $130,000–$150,000

  • Full benefits

  • Relocation assistance available

  • Interview travel expenses covered

  • Onsite in the Houston area; travel under 10%

  • Local Houston-area candidates preferred

  • Direct hire, one opening
