As a Project Engineer - Control Systems based in our Latham, NY location, you will join our Gas Turbines Project Group, where you will design, advance, and implement world-class turbine control systems, electrical hardware solutions, and testing strategies that improve efficiency, reliability, and safety for customers across the power industry. In this senior-level role, you will apply your technical expertise to drive customer outcomes, mentor project contributors, and influence the development of cutting-edge automation technologies that support a stronger and more sustainable North American power grid.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
 
  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of gas turbine control systems, electrical hardware, and integrated automation solutions for power generation facilities.
  • Develop, review, and approve complex electrical schematics, wiring specifications, and hardware architecture for turbine control applications.
  • Select, specify, and validate electrical devices, ensuring all hardware design meets customer requirements and Emerson quality standards.
  • Guide project engineers and collaborate with project managers to troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Serve as a primary customer-facing technical expert, presenting system layouts, hardware configurations, electrical drawings, testing plans, simulation validation, and performance results.
  • Lead or contribute significantly to global cross-functional initiatives involving advanced engineering design, controls technology, and product enhancements.
  • Drive the development and refinement of internal tools and processes to improve engineering efficiency and product quality.
  • Provide future mentorship to early-career engineers, contributing to knowledge transfer across the organization.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or our similar STEM degree. 
  • Minimum 5 years of related professional experience in engineering, ideally in electrical systems, automation, controls, or related technical disciplines.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% to customer sites. 
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship (U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only).
     
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Demonstrated experience designing or implementing electrical and/or control systems for industrial, power generation, or automation environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable CAD tools used for electrical and wiring design.
  • Familiarity with turbine, power plant, or large rotating equipment control systems.
     
  • Interest in continuous learning and staying current with advancements in electrical engineering, automation, and industrial control technologies.
