Job Overview:

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer works on-site within the Project Management Team and is responsible for contract setup, submittals, assisting with the bid package process, change orders and assisting with the scheduling of the project. The Project Management Team can vary greatly depending on the size and complexity of the projects, which in turn will affect the number of responsibilities the Project Engineer will be involved in. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

:

  • Setup initial contracts and project information in PMIS.

  • Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals.

  • Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs.

  • Assist in management of project documentation organization.

  • Assist in management of project permit process.

  • Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement.

  • Update construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress and material delivery.

  • Assist in tracking trade contractor installation progress and quality control. Ensure that Skanska and its sub-contractors have a proper QAQC program document and are prosecuting it accordingly.

  • Change management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders with project managers.

  • Track and inspect material deliveries.

  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and enforce IFE and Care for Life program on projects with the project team.

  • As a Project Engineer on an active construction site, this position requires regular and consistent on-site attendance to monitor and observe construction operations and participate in scheduled and ad hoc production, safety, and supervisory meetings.

**Education and Experience: **

**Required Qualifications: **

  • 1-3 Years of experience creating documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts.

  • 1-3 years of reading and understanding construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Able to outline specifications required for submission to clients and ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved.

  • 1-3 years’ experience with project close out.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/construction management or 8 years equivalent experience.
