Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Georgetown, KY; 100% on-site and the candidates should be local
Duration: 12 months (possible extension)
Working hours: 8 AM to 5 PM local time.
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to lead paint booth modification and construction projects within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects involving structural improvements, airflow enhancements, and equipment installations while ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are achieved. The ideal candidate combines engineering knowledge with practical trade experience and thrives in an execution-focused, collaborative environment.
Work Location & Schedule
- 100% onsite at client Motor Manufacturing Kentucky
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 20% overtime, including weekends and plant shutdown support
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel (Canada, Mexico, vendors, and NAMC sites)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage paint booth modification and construction projects from concept through completion.
- Investigate project feasibility, define scope, develop schedules, and manage project budgets.
- Prepare scopes of work, bid packages, and technical project specifications.
- Review and modify technical drawings using AutoCAD and provide engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate structural modifications, sheet metal work, airflow improvements, and equipment installations within paint booth environments.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and company safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with third-party safety compliance contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and affiliate companies.
- Supervise contractors in both greenfield and brownfield construction environments.
- Coordinate installation activities with skilled trades and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedules and budgets.
- Manage contractor negotiations and support procurement activities.
- Drive effective communication and collaboration among multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline, **or** Technical Trade Certification with equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of project management experience, preferably managing projects valued at $500K or more.
- Experience with commercial construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience reviewing and modifying technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- At least 2 years of technical drawing review experience.
- Experience developing bid specifications and negotiating with contractors.
- Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a process-driven, repetitive work environment.
- Hands-on engineering mindset with practical trade or field execution experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with paint booth airflow systems and environmental controls.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

- Trade experience, particularly in sheet metal fabrication or installation.
- Familiarity with utility cost calculations and energy efficiency analysis.
