Job Overview:

Integration / Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Integration / Manufacturing Engineer to support the production, integration, and continuous improvement of complex heavy machinery and mechanical systems. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing teams, solving challenging production problems, and improving how equipment is built.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, machinists, welders, mechanics, and other skilled trades to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of large-scale production and integration of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Develop a deep understanding of system functionality, assembly, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturability, cost reduction, quality, simplicity, and efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and production issues and develop practical, systematic solutions.

  • Plan and manage batch production of assemblies, including material requirements, bulk purchasing, and strategic outsourcing.

  • Evaluate and improve production flow to ensure efficient and repeatable build processes.

  • Monitor production capacity and identify opportunities to improve throughput and eliminate bottlenecks.

  • Analyze data and feedback from manufacturing, testing, R&D, field operations, and engineering to drive design and production improvements.

  • Design and integrate jigs, fixtures, and tooling to simplify and improve production.

  • Coordinate upcoming engineering and design changes to ensure purchasing and production teams are prepared for future builds.

  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and quality documentation.

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to machinists, welders, mechanics, and other skilled trades personnel.

  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of critical equipment and production issues.

  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to meet aggressive production milestones.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 2+ years of experience with CAD design software; SolidWorks experience is preferred.

  • Experience with prototype design, development, and/or testing.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Ability to work closely with production teams and skilled trades on the manufacturing floor.

  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, mechanical assembly, equipment integration, and/or testing. Professional, academic, or relevant project experience may be considered.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information across engineering and skilled-trades teams.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical design experience.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety and quality standards.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Toyota Production System (TPS), or similar continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience interpreting hydraulic schematics is a plus.

  • Knowledge of mechatronics and fluid power systems.

  • Understanding of material selection and common manufacturing processes.

  • Experience working with or around heavy machinery.

  • Experience working in construction, industrial, or field environments.

  • Previous leadership experience within a technical or engineering team.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work in underground tunnels, manufacturing facilities, and active construction environments as required.

  • Ability to travel to project and job sites throughout the United States, sometimes on short notice.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where manufacturing priorities and technical challenges can change quickly.

  • Willingness to work hands-on alongside production and skilled-trades teams when equipment or production issues arise.

  • Ability to prioritize urgent problems and meet demanding project and production milestones.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, resourceful, technically strong, and comfortable taking ownership. This role requires an engineer who can move between CAD/design work and the production floor, identify problems quickly, and develop practical solutions that improve how complex equipment is manufactured and assembled.

The ideal candidate thrives in a high-energy environment, enjoys solving difficult engineering and manufacturing challenges, and is motivated by building and improving innovative machinery and systems.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive compensation package, including a strong base salary, equity opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.

  • Base Salary: Starting at $100,000 annually, with compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.

  • Equity Incentive: A Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant initially valued at $200,000, vesting over four years in equal annual increments of 25%, subject to applicable grant terms. Equity is separate from base salary, and its actual value may vary.
