Join an Established Tool & Die Shop

We are seeking an experienced Progressive Die Designer to join our growing Tool & Die team in Hazelwood, MO. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys designing high-quality progressive stamping dies from concept through completion while working closely with engineering, toolmakers, and customers.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone with a strong background in progressive die design and metal stamping who takes pride in creating innovative, manufacturable tooling solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design progressive stamping dies for new and existing customer projects.
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
  • Develop complete die layouts, strip layouts, assemblies, and component drawings.
  • Work closely with Toolmakers throughout the build, assembly, and tryout process.
  • Review customer prints and part models to develop efficient tooling solutions.
  • Modify and improve existing die designs to enhance quality, performance, and tool life.
  • Troubleshoot design issues and provide engineering support during production and die tryouts.
  • Ensure designs meet customer specifications, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Progressive Die Design experience preferred.
  • Experience designing progressive metal stamping dies in a Tool & Die environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, VISI, Siemens NX, or similar 3D design software.
  • Strong understanding of strip layouts, die sequencing, die construction, and metal stamping processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of tooling materials, manufacturing methods, and machining processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering and shop personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a custom Tool & Die shop.
  • Knowledge of progressive die troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting die builds through production and tryout.
