We are seeking an entrepreneurial spirit and project management expert to help align our organization and specialists throughout the company to create specific defense solutions and products focused on our mission. The Program Manager works with the technical program leadership to lead project team activities and ensure customer satisfaction while achieving individual project goals. This position reports to the Executive Director of Defense Projects and is expected to grow over time, through alignment of the business unit, growth in direct reports, and strategic partnerships. Flexibility, self-direction, team orientation, and the ability to manage high levels of ambiguity are a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Project Planning:

  • Coordinate with matrix departments to develop project planning of tasks, deliverables, schedules, resources, roles and responsibilities, risks, and communication plans.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, and tasks using work breakdown structure.
  • Work with technical leads to develop detailed project team structure.
  • Develop project financial plans.

Project Execution:

  • Coordinate and lead status meetings with project teams to review and actively manage project tasks, deliverables, schedules, resources, roles and responsibilities, risk mitigations, and communication plans.
  • Coordinate product build strategy, timing, and execution with the build team.
  • Coordinate and facilitate status meetings with the customer teams.
  • Maintain program management review status using standard and custom tools and reports.
  • Present program management reviews as scheduled to executive leadership.
  • Maintain costs, forecasts, and revenue.
  • Ensure invoices are submitted in accordance with contract rules and updated in company business systems.

Program Management:

  • Assist the Business Development team in market research and analysis.
  • Assist in the identification of customer leads, support customer meetings, and lead proposal efforts.
  • Manage customer relationships, coordinate internal project resources, provide customer status updates, and ensure on-time deliverables, change management, and invoice/payment schedules.
  • Identify risks to customer satisfaction, project deliverables, and develop action plans to mitigate.
  • Lead communication internally and externally to keep project on schedule and the team informed.
  • Provide feedback on customer needs and process improvement.
  • Assist in contract administration.

Project Deliverables and Wrap-Up:

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed customer timing and quality expectations.
  • Lead internal project close-out reviews in accordance with company standard operating procedures.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following will be assigned as required:

  • Support Business Development and Marketing with external-facing communications, conferences, and meetings.
  • Support the Program Management Office on process developments and improvements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong mix of academic and practical experience. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on innovation and excellence.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong background in O365, MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience in project cost estimating, cost tracking, budgeting, and resource allocation.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience serving in the role of program or project manager.
  • Experience in project and program management methodology and techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stress may occur periodically.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Long hours may be required at times.
  • Travel may be required.

Pay Range:

$91,800.00 - $153,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
