Responsible for leading and developing multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. Act as the primary interface with multiple customer engineering teams, representing Pace industries as the technical expert as it concerns the development of the manufacturing process and finalizing product design for newly awarded high pressure die casting products. Champion new product launches and provide technical expertise in high pressure die casting product design and manufacturing methods to other functional areas within the company such as operations, quality, and supply chain to ensure all customer requirements and specifications are met. Serve as a technical expert working side-by-side with Sales Managers as they actively engage customers in new potential business opportunities. Provide insight into product feasibility, equipment and tooling requirements, cost and timing for opportunities that Sales Managers are pursuing. After formal program kick-off, become the primary point of communication to/from the customer for assigned customers and projects. Act internally as the technical interface for the product engineering team to other functional areas such as supply chain, operations, and commercial resources, assuring that all customer requirements and specifications can be met. Lead communication internally, as the voice of the customer. Take cradle to grave responsibility for new High Pressure Die Casting projects assuring all customer technical specifications and product requirements are met. Lead and mentor cross functional NPI team through all the elements of the Pace product development and engineering process. Actively engage in means of improving and optimizing the Pace NPI Process. Clearly communicate the status and health of the project weekly both internally and externally. Proactively identify risks and issues related to new product development. Propose technical solutions to product feasibility issues, and drive to timely resolution to those issues. Ensure new product development programs meet customer requirements, all design specifications are met and the timing and budget of product development is in line with internal and customer expectations. Assess and manage any customer product change requests (engineering changes). Ensure they are feasible and can be managed at the level of expectation of the customer. Lead all discussions with the customer engineering team on any changes deemed not feasible and work with that team to resolve issues. Constantly be on-guard for customer-driven specification and scope creep. Work through Account Manager to either eliminate specification and scope creep or transform it into a commercial opportunity. Support the quotation development efforts and ensure strong Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and customer product performance targets are integrated into the company’s offering. Identify opportunities for revenue and margin growth within programs through VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) process, and work with customer engineering teams to try and implement those opportunities within their designs. Partner with Account Managers and other Product Engineers in late APQP Phase 1 project planning & risk management. Develop close customer relationships that provide opportunities to routinely interact with Customer Design team to initiate ESD (Early Supplier Development) activities to guide new business opportunities to company well in advance of RFQ and part print issuance. Coordinate engineering cost estimates by studying all related customer documents, consulting with engineers, sales and other functional areas. Lead technical discussions with other engineers about costing and lead times to implement Engineering changes. Coordinate the creation and presentation of Technical reviews. Champion all potential and current customer technical capability audits (CQI-27, WCMS, SEA). Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and current customers
