We are looking for a Program Manager to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Advanced Engineering Program Manager and based in Newark, DE. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.
The Program Manager role is to help ensure the successful development and delivery of manufactured products. The role will be responsible for ensuring a cross-functional team succeeds in meeting functional, financial, and business plan objectives for the manufacturing division, and for looking ahead.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Manage the manufacturing programs from concept to deployment via new product development process and structured phase gate process.
• Drive day-to-day program activities, development planning, execution, and risk assessments to meet overall program objectives for development projects.
• Work with our internal development teams to define technical objectives and development goals for production-bound and prototype development efforts, then manage and track the development schedule and risks to realize these goals.
• Interface and collaborate with multi-functional development partners to drive technical alignment, schedule alignment, and issue resolution.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, for collaborating across many participating teams. You will interact with many internal teams to lead and deliver best-in-class products in an exciting fast-paced environment.
• Be the “go to” person for all questions and/or requests related to specific programs.
• Provide overall program management leadership essential to ensure successful delivery of key manufacturing programs to achieve Bloom Energy’s business plan objectives.
• Work closely with highly technical product development, product management, and operations teams on product definition, roadmap, schedules, prioritizations, tradeoffs, etc.
• Accountable for establishing and meeting all schedule, budget, scope and KPIs.
• Accountable for program risks identification and developing mitigation strategies and actions.
• Accountable for establishing and meeting program performance targets.
• Foster a collaborative work ethic within the program team and other related program teams.
• Develop an innovative and effective environment that is constantly driving new product architecture, design and materials which lead to better cost, performance, reliability, and profitability of the product line.
• Establish and drive a standardized process and program framework for deployment of products into full scale manufacturing deployment post product design in a fast-paced environment.
• Design, develop, test, and implement process that will help team exceed company targets for safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost.
• Serve as a bridge between manufacturing engineering, operations management, and other cross-functional teams in standardization of new and existing manufacturing process for new product deployment.
• Ensure responsible teams work with production technicians and team-leads to develop standardized work for new product deployment in both, manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas.
• Develop and improve flow of materials and information in and out of new and existing processes implemented in manufacturing and warehouse areas to eliminate wastes and maintain a single piece flow.
• Ensure timely development, implementation, and verification of effective plant layout changes with cross-functional teams that improve the flow of materials through manufacturing areas.
• Coach and drive cross-functional teams in use of lean manufacturing tools to identify waste in the process, determine the root cause of waste, and implement continuous improvement ideas to eliminate the waste.
• Work with warehouse teams to verify effective design and implementation of flow racking, material transfer carts, and tooling carts to material handling across various facilities.
• Ensure responsible cross-functions lead on-the-job training with technicians, supervisors, and engineers focused on how they can use these tools to improve their job.
• Oversee and monitor projects with suppliers to find and eliminate waste in total value stream by improving flow of materials and information both within and through the supplier’s facility.
• Ensure cross-functional support for operations by developing and tracking daily production metrics across the entire organization.
• Provide support to Engineering functions for development and implementation of FMEAs, control plans, and APQP, and PPAP activities.
• Ensure that improvements and solutions are in compliance with safety procedures and practices while guaranteeing superior product quality and reliability to our customers.
Skills and Experience:
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
• 6+ years of relevant experience in energy technology
• Experience managing cross-functional teams, including Executive level team members
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative
• Ability to take complicated technical concepts and translate to an audience in a compelling and succinct manner
• Must be detail oriented and a good multi-tasker
• Ability to think and act both strategically and creatively
• Strong self-starter who is a team player and can work independently
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
• Experience setting up a structured project/program management process
• Experience developing and standardizing manufacturing processes
• Strong presence, ability to lead and manage cross functional and matrixed teams
• Leadership ability to influence and drive technology decisions
• Strong desire for success and significance
