Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking an energetic Project Manager to join our team of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are passionately committed to safely solving our clients' environmental concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands-on Project Manager, dedicated to completing projects with precision and accuracy. They will participate in the development, planning, oversight, management, and implementation of environmental work related to environmental assessment, remediation, and infrastructure projects. This may include environmental and contamination assessments and remediation projects for state and local government, heavy industry, and retail petroleum clients, permitting and compliance assistance to state, local, and private clients. The successful candidate will profitably and safely manage environmental assessment/compliance/remediation projects to client expectations from proposal through execution to invoicing and be able to effectively mentor less experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Managing client projects from proposal through execution and Invoicing.
  • Interaction and cooperation with the client and the client's staff, vendors, contractors.
  • Developing and executing various work scopes while maintaining project schedules and budgetary goals.
  • Conducts work independently or as part of a project team, adjusting work priorities to quickly changing site conditions and project schedules.
  • Monitors and manages budgets and timelines for execution of projects.
  • Manages schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet project targets and timelines.
  • Interpretation and evaluation of scientific data.
  • Manage project's finance and resource management for a team of scientists, chemists, engineers, and others
  • Will communicate with all parties including Contracting Officers and Contracting Officer's Representatives regarding project performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, training and compensation for contract staff.
  • Review and authorizing subcontracts and submission of proposals and invoices.
  • Provide technical support to projects in all phases of work and a variety of scopes that include but are not limited to: conceptual design, environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, remediation design, regulatory reporting procurement, and construction.
  • Adheres to established health and safety policies and procedures and executes work in a safe and conscientious manner.
  • Prepares or reviews technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and 10 years of experience in Geology, Environmental Science, Project Management, Environmental Engineering, or other Science degree preferred or a bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience required.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in project execution/management and personnel management in the environmental industry
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline.
  • Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
  • Have demonstrated experience with strong scientific leadership and management expertise to lead staff in successful contract performance for contracts providing facility scheduling, daily on-site and off-site operations, research activities, and modification and maintenance of facilities.
  • Have direct experience supporting U.S. Federal Government research contracts and demonstrated communications skills to interact with customers at all levels to ensure satisfaction and maintain high contract performance.
  • Have demonstrated ability to manage contract performance in quality, safety, cost, technical, and schedule objectives with day-to-day oversight of performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen to profitably achieve requirements while maintaining high customer satisfaction, must be able to understand and interpret contract documents and develop business plans.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead highly skilled engineers, scientists, and tradesmen in a research setting.
  • Have experience collaborating with universities and consultants.
  • Due to the federal, on-campus requirements of this position, US Citizenship is required
