Job Overview:

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

 

We are looking for a seasonal Production (Maintenance) Working Foreman to serve as plant leadership while maintaining production responsibility/duties and is expected to perform based on the business and operational needs of the Plant. Supervise maintenance/production personnel, ensuring a high level of employee productivity while managing departmental resources within budget limitations and effectively supporting an efficient production operation. Provide technical support to maintenance/production personnel and plant management. Ensure maintenance/production personnel are properly deployed according to skill set, experience, job qualification, training and/or education. This cross functional role will be responsible for the Plant’s overall production and preventive maintenance at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and drive production demands as per plan while ensuring product quality
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance on equipment is to be executed and properly documented.
  • Ensures that the response time to any mechanical failure is adequate for minimal production downtime.
  • Assist supervisor and operators in equipment start-up, shut down and CIP.
  • Ensure all maintenance and lubrication of equipment is being performed daily.

 

Requirements: 

  • Five years of related experience and/or training in Industrial Food Processing machinery or similar equipment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of Tomato Processing including evaporation, sterilization and aseptic systems.
  • Works with others and coordinate production with co-workers
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October. 

 

Compensation: 

The wage is $27.10, with a 2nd shift differential of $.50 and a 3rd shift differential of $1.00.
