 JOB SUMMARY  

This position performs precision grinding, sanding or polishing of various metals and materials using hand tools or hand-held power tools to ensure a smooth surface, inspecting for flaws. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

• Grinds sands and polishes various metals. 
• Set up and operate standard manufacturing equipment. 
• Deburr, buff or polish materials according to specifications. 
• Complete the required paperwork for specific jobs. 
• Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or as required. 
• Ability to complete assigned work within given project timelines/specifications 
• Ensures safety devices are operative. 
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Requires basic understanding of manufacturing tools and their proper use. 
• Requires knowledge of grinding practices and finish requirements. 
• Other Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Language Skills: Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, simple drawings. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, to express needs and ask questions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The employee is required to remain in a stationary position up to 95% of the time; the employee must be able to stand for a 10 hour shift. Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  

WORKING CONDITIONS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, as well as elevated heat and humidity levels. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
