The production worker is responsible for various duties to ensure accurate processing of raw hops. Production worker will be responsible for operating bale feed/crumbler, making cartons, and ensuring foil bags are ready for packaging.
50% 1. Bale Feeder/Crumbler Operation
Follow blend instructions to set batches/mixers up for production line
Ensure bale lots are organized and effectively labeled for accuracy
Identify hop lots and grower number for setting up bale batches/mixes
Feed bales according to blend instructions
Run bales in a timely manner to ensure bale per hour requirements are met
Properly strap and remove used bale bags from crumbler deck
Use forklift to batch set-up
25% 2. Box Maker
Ensure cartons are ready for filling station at all times
Cartons to be properly made with neatness and in a timely manner
20% 3. Packaging Line
Inspect foil bags for seam integrity
Place foil bags in cartons and send cartons through automated equipment for sealing, labeling, palletizing and stretch wrapping
Notify Quality Control Operator of any issues
Check accuracy of laser daycode per monitor in the plant
Check foil packs for leakage
5% 4. Other duties as assigned
Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures, including successful passing of pre-employment drug test.
Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects.
Shift work: May include rotating shifts, weekends, or overnight hours. Must work 40hrs per week, overtime may be required during peak harvest season.
Ability to lift 50lbs with or without assistance.
Ability to stand for long period of time, lift, twist, bend, reach, and climb stairs.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Mandatory use of PPE: Employees must wear hearing protection devices (e.g., earplugs, earmuffs).
Hearing tests: Periodic audiometric testing may be required to monitor hearing health.
Training: Instruction on proper use and care of hearing protection.
High noise levels: Continuous exposure to machinery or equipment.
Exposure to hop dust.
Required:
Knowledge of OSHA general safety standards
Knowledge and experience working with computers and ability to learn D365 system for internal business operations
Preferred:
Experience working in hop industry
Forklift experience
Knowledge of automated packaging equipment
