Overview
Seidel Tanning Corp. is hiring Production Workers at our factory in Milwaukee, WI, 53212. We are a family-owned leather manufacturer that has operated in Milwaukee since 1945, and we make finished leather for footwear and leather goods brands. We are looking for reliable, hardworking people who want steady, hands-on factory work and are willing to learn.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and move leather through the production departments, including drums, splitting and shaving, drying, staking, buffing, finishing, and sorting and packing.
- Operate and monitor production machinery once trained.
- Follow job specifications and quality standards for each order.
- Check work for defects and report problems to the supervisor.
- Record counts and job information as material moves between departments.
- Operate pallet jacks and forklifts to move material.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE.
- Work with the crew to meet daily production targets.
- Take part in training and learn new machines and processes as you go.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior manufacturing, warehouse, or trades experience is a plus but not required. We will train.
- Able to stand for a full shift and regularly lift 50 pounds. The work is physical, and some areas are warm, humid, and wet.
- Dependable attendance and a good work ethic.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job right.
- Basic math skills for counting and measuring.
- Able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers. Spanish speakers welcome.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
