Job Description

Provides technical support to production lines as follows: 

• First responder and recovery of machine and process issues related to technical problems  
• Maintains target function of equipment and process condition 
•  Implementing improvements for cost, quality and productivity based on KPI’s for area  

Key Responsibilities  

• Maintain effective communication with support departments (PM, PE, etc.)  
• Work with maintenance on breakdowns if not engaged with another task  
• Communicate any line issue with PR Team Leader so all are informed of any issues  

Safety Responsibilities  

1. Identify and use appropriate PPE as required.  
2. Understand and perform repairs, alignments, and other jobs on production line, using an OMS or job aide ensuring all key safety points are followed.  
3. Assist others with safety concerns in their area (proper PPE, safety required equipment in area, etc.)  
4. Assess area for potential safety hazards (trip, fall, spill, and other hazards) and report/correct as needed  

Quality Responsibilities  

1. Judge and report part specifications that are out of control limits  
2. Understand and evaluate line 5S condition (contamination prevention, scrap part introduction to line, etc.)  
3. Judge suspect parts against boundary samples as acceptable/unacceptable  
4. Ensure 5M1E changes are documented and inform Production Team Leader to confirm changes are acceptable.  
5. Judge and report no good scrap rate/high defect kick-out

Productivity Responsibilities  

1. Evaluate Cycle Time (CT) issues on responsible lines.  
2. Judge the need for equipment adjustment or tool replacement using production data from daily charts (PPAS, Daily Check sheet,  Etc.) input and part checks.  

Technical Responsibilities  (not inclusive)

1. Minor breakdown repairs  
2. Troubleshooting or repair limited to ability, training, and customer requirements (if clear line of direction and no assistance needed complete repair, if no clear path for repair Production Maintenance is to be contacted for support).  
3. Troubleshoot/Repair/Replace cylinders, valves, sensors  
4. Machine alignments  
5. Repair/Rebuild jigs  
6. Pneumatic troubleshooting &/or repair  
7. Repair chain conveyor  
8. Install/Replace conveyor belts  
9. Minor sheet metal fabrication  
10. Exchange dies  
11. Replace bearings, shafts, etc.  
12. Troubleshoot through PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) (read only access)  
13. Minor robot adjustment  
14. Keep daily record of activities detailing what and why incident occurred, and how the incident was repaired/handled (utilizing Nexus)  
15. Monitor machine checks and lubrications  
16. Preventative maintenance of machines  
17. Initial value check  
18. Control and monitor machine logs  
19. Periodic check of nuts, bolts, screw tightness  
20. Periodic check of belts, chains, etc. for wear  
21. Monitor cycle times of machines  
22. Implement CM’s if needed  
23. Active member of all TPM Kaizen teams in area assigned  
24. Gather data for job priority and present to management  
25. Assist in monthly report of activities with management providing detailed analysis and description  
26. Understand mechanical drawings  
27. Assist in training of other Production and/or Temporary associates  
28. Observe operators for correct procedure  
29. Ability to substitute in workstations to cover absenteeism  

Additionally, position supports the following day-to-day activities:  

1. Control Chart Analysis  
2. Machine operations  
3. Operator Training  
4. Machine inspections (5s)  
5. Quality checks  
6. Machine Overhaul (supporting PE and PM Dept.’s)  
7. Monitoring machine cycle times

• Completion of technical skills test

External:

• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or technical work experience
• Completion of technical skills test

• High school diploma or completion of high school equivalence exam required

   

• 6 months of DENSO for internal candidates or 3 years of manufacturing experience for external candidates

• Knowledge of department procedures and terms 

• Ability to learn and comprehend basic instruction and understand the meaning of DENSO terminology 

• Perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly 

• Good organizational skills and time management 

• Ability to learn basic computer skills (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.) 

• Ability to travel globally 

• Technical Judgement Responsibilities:

  • Ability to judge and report amount of time needed to repair equipment  

  • Ability to understand and evaluate the cause of problems with jigs, tools, and machines  

  • Ability to judge the need for equipment adjustment or tool replacement in the event of quality problem  

• Ability to work overtime to support production and / or projects
