Follett has an opportunity for a Production Supervisor – Second Shift to join our Team!

The Production Supervisor supervises the activities of production personnel engaged in all aspects of the manufacturing function. Specific responsibilities include communicating job expectations, planning and monitoring work, appraising job results, coaching and counseling, and enforcing policies and procedures. Key accountabilities include meeting production schedules by establishing priorities, allocating necessary staff, and revising schedules as necessary. Responsibilities also include identifying and implementing quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties:
- Performs all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreement, and applicable employment laws.
- Implement appropriate discipline per the collective bargaining agreement and company guidelines, and recommend termination of employment when necessary.
- Responsible for responding to work-related issues and emergencies as appropriate in a timely manner, regardless of the time of day.
- Responsible for orienting and training employees.
- Maintains workflow by reassigning work; facilitating corrective actions and employee transfers; and fostering a spirit of cooperation between departments.
- Completes production schedules by assigning employees, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, recommending revisions to the schedule, resolving problems, and reporting results.
- Maintains and approves all work records utilizing the automated time & attendance system for attendance and payroll applications.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of PPE, tools, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Maintains quality service by enforcing organization standards.
- Ensures operation of equipment and tools by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques, and requisitioning new tools and equipment.
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, seminars, etc., participating in professional societies, and reviewing professional publications.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Responsible for being familiar with and following procedures and policies relevant to job functions and Follett Products.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or the Sciences/Engineering or relevant manufacturing/production experience preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience; in a union environment is a plus.
- Experience with electro/mechanical product assembly and refrigeration experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated participation in lean manufacturing, 6Sigma, and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be flexible to work a 10-hour shift for 3 weeks (4 pm - 2 am), then 1 week of an 8-hour shift (2 pm - 10 pm).
- Must be flexible to occasionally work weekend shift (in rotation with 7 other supervisors - weekend coverage is compensated hourly).
- Work Environment: Office/exposure to a non-temperature controlled manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use keyboard on computer, office equipment such as phone, copier, etc.
- Extended periods of walking.
- Noise level: medium
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel is required to meet the requirements of the job.
