PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - POWDER COATINGS

Sun-Thurs: 3rd Shift

 

The Production Supervisor – Powder Coatings supervises and coordinates the work assignments and workforce to ensure appropriate manufacturing results for the Department, which includes producing the highest quality finished product at the lowest possible production cost.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·       Supervise and coordinate Powder Department production operations, maintaining product quality, economical production costs and production schedules consistent with company manufacturing objectives and profit goals.

·       Assist with production scheduling and provide production schedule changes to fulfill shipping commitments and rush orders. Coordinate production operation, employee skill utilization,         production hours, and material and workflow and inventory control to insure timely production of powder coatings.

·       Order production supplies to insure the timely and cost-effective production of powder coatings.

·       Maintain and/or modify work procedures and production methods to accomplish required production operations. Adjust work procedures to fulfill production requirements.

·       Train employees in production techniques and the use of production equipment, consistent with ISO requirements.

·       Maintain and approve employee time records, utilizing the electronic timekeeping system to ensure accurate time records and timely payment for all hours worked.

·       Monitor and review employee performance and make recommendations to the Production Manager relating to employee status.

·       Responsible for adherence to safety rules by all direct reports, promoting safe work practices, coaching and any necessary safety training required in addition to that provided by the corporate safety trainer. Also is responsible for stopping and reporting any safety violations when observed throughout the facility.

·       Analyze and resolve work related problems and assist Powder Department employees to achieve work goals.

·       Confer with other supervisors and/or members of management to coordinate Powder Department production activities with activities of other departments.

·       Utilize the Business Operating System to report operations completed, materials issued, and other related transactions

·       Interview, hire and terminate employees as necessary

·       Conduct performance reviews on a semi-annual basis.

·       Participate in quality system audits for compliance with ISO and quality standards.

·       Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

 ·       Preferred education level: Associate’s degree or two-year college degree or equivalent.

·       Preferred experience level: Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemicals or coatings.

·       Extensive knowledge of Powder Department operations and supervisory techniques preferred.

·       Ability to provide leadership and motivate subordinate personnel to accomplish work goals preferred.

·       Understanding of powder coating formulations.

·       Experience with Production and Laboratory equipment.

·       Forklift certification preferred.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.

·       Works well in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. and occasionally up to 100lbs.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
