Production Supervisor
Dura-Line, an Orbia business is hiring a Day Shift Production Supervisor to join our North Salt Lake, Utah Team. The hours for this position are 6:45a.m. to 7:00pm. (2-2-3 rotating schedule)
The Production Supervisor is a critical position within our Plant Operations. The right candidate will possess strong leadership skills to coach, mentor, and motivate their team. You will be accountable for production output, minimizing downtime and driving ongoing improvement. This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground, engaging and involved leadership role. The Production Supervisor will lead by example and ensure to hit targets (in order of priority) in safety, quality, service, cost, and production while optimizing the manufacturing process for increased productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of daily operations such as staffing, quality control, safety requirements and prevention and schedule adherence.
Lead by example to hit targets (in order of priority) in safety, quality, service, cost, and production and provide suggestions for improvement.
Hold team accountable to following established procedures, performance expectations and conforming to conduct standards using direct praise and recognition and addresses deficiencies in a timely and respectful manner.
Be an enabler for the team to drive process improvements using accepted safety and continuous improvement techniques.
Mentor Lead Operators to handle production problem escalations and workload challenges. Ensure effective employee relations through professional engagement, interaction, and visibility on the floor.
Conduct all administrative activities in a timely and effective manner including pre and post shift reporting and audits, time and attendance processing, safety-related issues, and employee relations and performance management requirements.
Responsible for the effective training, qualification, proficiency and overall performance management of employees including ongoing skills and safety observations and feedback.
Build a team that is dedicated and committed to excellence, with open communication and effective and consistent pre-shift meetings, where all team members have a voice.
Serve as the “ambassador” to promote and communicate company programs such as Shared Success, 5S, safety audits, skills and competency training and the Employee Value Proposition to support morale and performance.
KPI: Productivity, scrap percentage, labor utilization, On Time Delivery, OEE, Customer Complaints, TRIR, OSHA Recordables
Lead/influence and be part of multi-level, cross functional teams
Manages a fast-paced environment in a 24 hour operations with a diverse workforce.
Maintains technical expertise on plant products, processes and operations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, bilingual is a Plus!
Has participated in Lean production or process improvement events and Kaizen events
Safety mentality oriented and able to foster a culture of safety with basic OSHA knowledge
Computer tech savvy (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, Teams) ERP systems knowledge, SAP experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance
Ability to walk around the plant floor consistently
Ability to sit/stand in an office environment
Ability to spend time consistently around hot machinery
Ability to move from one area to another by stepping over and/or bending under objects, pushing and pulling objects.
Commitment to wearing the proper PPE at all times (safety shoes, glasses, etc.)
Must be able to work in variable weather conditions and in an environment with many noises
The compensation for this position will typically range from $56,000 - $103,500/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
