BASIC PURPOSE:

Reporting to the President, the Production Floor Supervisor manufactures and fabricates parts and sub-assembles as needed and by supervising staff; organizing and monitoring work flow, and setting up the machines for production runs. The Production Floor Supervisor will make sure the plant floor is kept in good order and tidiness by all personnel.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accomplishes positive manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees as needed; developing on-the-job training and performance improvement training.
  • Read and interpret material and parts availability reports; interpret and understand blue prints.
  • Pursue work flow efficiencies by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by correct setup and calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques with a view to increasing efficiency of execution.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Recommends revisions to systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change. Implements approved recommendations.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; researching and reading about industry best practices.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participates in training as required.
  • Interact with vendors / third party manufacturers as needed to ensure timely service and parts delivery.
  • Supports the President on an as needed basis.
  • Endeavor to be a positive example at all times; through professional behavior, with complete integrity honesty, commitment to the company and compliance with its policies and procedures.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION:  

High School Diploma/GED.

EXPERIENCE:

Ten years of related experience including five years in supervisory roles.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Supervision, Coaching, Training, Managing Processes, Process Improvement;
  • Production Planning and prioritizing;
  • Machine setup and usage (e.g. Hydraulic Press Brake, Hydraulic Power Shears, Power Sheet Roller, Punch Press, Milling Machines, Lathes, English Wheel, Hydraulic Rubber Pad Forming Press);
  • Dealing with Complexity;
  • Aerospace Aluminum Sheet and Extrusion Material types;
  • Interpreting blueprints;
  • Calculating and measuring.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 70 lbs.

Work is performed in a fabrication/ manufacturing environment. Will require frequent walking and/or standing. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
