Title of Role: Production Shift Supervisor Graveyard
Reports to: Production Manager
FLSA Designation: Hourly/Non-exempt
Supervision Received/Exercised: Supervises up to 18 plant staff
Production Shift Supervisors are responsible for overseeing all production and support activities on assigned shift. Supervisors are also responsible for ensuring all employees comply with company policies and procedures, in manufacturing, safety, GMP’s, housekeeping engagement and behavior.
Role Summary:
The Production Shift Supervisor oversees all activities for their team. This position leads and promotes a safe, quality-driven, and efficient culture while serving as a role model of a trusted partner to cross-functional teams. This position participates in personnel management and is authorized to make decisions regarding people, product and process.
Role Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the role, but are not limited to the following:
Supervision & Facilitation of Manufacturing Processes: 60% of the time
• Maximize IMA uptime through consistent influence of resources including Machine Operators, Tea Support, QA, Blending, and Maintenance Technicians.
• Accurately prepare, complete, review and approve all related production documents and reports, yield reconciliation, QC check and release form, shift pass downs and various logs.
• Maintains a viable training plan incorporating efficiency and yield assumptions, learning-curves, quality expectations, safe work practices, etc.
• Monitor the movement of raw materials between the warehouse and manufacturing for accuracy and proper assignment.
• Assists operators and maintenance staff in trouble shooting initial cause of machine failure and provides miscellaneous support wherever necessary to keep production lines efficient including dumping tea, moving, and staging components.
• Familiarity with operation of all peripheral production equipment as well as IMA machines, i.e., Ishida scales, glue machines, case packers, ink jet print systems, Mespic conveyor system, and MARKSnMORE.
• Responsible for manual waste count and recording.
Manufacturing Staff Supervision: 40% of the time
• Lead Machine Operators with equal emphasis on safety, quality, efficiencies, costs and morale for assigned shift.
• Monitors and directs all staff to maintain a work environment of continuous improvement.
• Administer personnel performance and attendance documentation, engagement action planning, coaching and corrective actions.
• Audit ADP labor scans and perform manual coding for payroll accuracy when necessary. Approve all time for each payroll cycle.
• Ensures facility security processes and acts as lead for any personnel safety concerns for staff.
• Responsible for safety reporting, tracking and follow up, including ensuring corrective actions following incident analysis are carried out; maintains communication with employee and acts as lead in collaboration with Safety Leader for any incidents, near misses or injuries.
• Performs any and all other assigned tasks.

• 5 years of experience supervising in a packaging environment – high speed preferred.

Work Environment:
• 20% Office – sitting; 80% manufacturing - warehouse and high-speed production environment exposure which includes noise, dust, forklifts, and fluctuations in temperature.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on an infrequent basis.
• Stand, walk, climb stairs and climbing on and off a forklift.
• Sitting at workstations for extended periods of time.
Minimum Requirements:
• 5 years of experience supervising in a packaging environment – high speed preferred.
• Experienced in report writing, data entry and general computer skills.
• Demonstrated experience in promoting a safe working environment.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
