Production Area Supervisor (Forming/Assembly)

About the Role

Erdrich USA is seeking an experienced Production Area Supervisor to lead our Forming and Assembly operations. This position is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and developing a high-performing production team.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Production Leadership

• Lead daily production activities to ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Monitor workflow and respond quickly to production disruptions or bottlenecks.
• Track and report production results, performance metrics, and operational issues.

Team Management

• Supervise, coach, and develop production employees within the Forming and Assembly areas.
• Assign work based on employee qualifications, workload, and production priorities.
• Conduct performance discussions and support employee growth and development.
• Participate in interviewing and selecting new employees.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with work instructions, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Investigate quality concerns, scrap, rework, and production defects.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve manufacturing performance.
• Lead continuous improvement (KVP) initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in safety initiatives and reinforce safe work practices throughout the department.

Operational & Resource Management

• Optimize the use of labor, equipment, materials, and production resources.
• Assist with workforce planning and staffing requirements.
• Support budget planning, cost control initiatives, and capital investment projects.
• Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Logistics teams to meet business objectives.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Technical vocational training or equivalent manufacturing education.
• Several years of manufacturing experience, preferably in metal forming, stamping, or assembly operations.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a production environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and utilize measuring equipment.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical, manufacturing, or business-related field.
• Experience with SAP, Babtec, or similar manufacturing systems.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
