About the Opportunity
A leading precision manufacturing company in the western suburbs of Chicago is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee operations within its Heat Treat Department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising a skilled team, ensuring production schedules are met, and maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations of the Heat Treat facility, including scheduling, workflow, and staffing.
Ensure all heat treat processes (carburizing, hardening, tempering, etc.) are performed to specification.
Monitor production metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, quality, and cost efficiency.
Train, mentor, and evaluate team members; foster a culture of accountability and safety.
Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve issues and support production goals.
Ensure compliance with ISO, AS9100, and other applicable industry standards.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to production and compliance.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (heat treat/metal processing strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of heat treat processes, furnaces, and related equipment.
Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop employees.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.
Willingness to work flexible hours to meet production requirements.
