Key Responsibilities
Ensure packaging and processing equipment operate at standard speeds and meet quality specifications.
Oversee production to achieve output goals in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
Train, guide, and enforce company practices, policies, and procedures with assigned staff.
Report issues beyond immediate resolution to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
Exercise authority regarding employee matters including hiring, training, discipline, safety, and promotions.
Coordinate daily production activities and maintain consistent workflow across shifts.
Enter production totals and process data into the company’s computer system daily.
Respond to emergency situations calmly, making quick, sound decisions in the company’s best interest.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring staff motivation and accountability.
Develop schedules, assign tasks, and direct production staff to meet operational goals.
Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, provide recognition, and administer corrective action when necessary.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations.
Familiarity with EEOC, OSHA, FDA, and HACCP/SQF requirements.
Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office required, JDE experience a plus.
Strong communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse employee groups and foster teamwork.
Ability to keep machines running with minimal downtime by motivating staff and monitoring operations.
Must maneuver around production machinery for up to 50% of the workday.
Frequent use of ladders and stairs as needed.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Work at a computer station 25–50% of the day.
Remain calm and professional when defusing tense or potentially volatile situations.
Exercise caution when working on slippery surfaces or elevated platforms.
Adapt to varying environments, including hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet, and odorous conditions.
Ability to hear and communicate effectively in noisy environments to ensure safety and quality.
Complete required safety training and maintain compliance with all safety rules.
Maintain dependable attendance and flexibility to work 40–60 hours per week.
