We are seeking a Heat Treat Supervisor to lead our first shift operations. The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operations of the heat treat department, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily operations of the heat treat department, including equipment operation and maintenance.
- Lead and develop a team of professional heat treat technicians, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
- Oversee the operation of integral quench furnaces, pit carburizers, box furnaces, quench presses, tempering ovens, and cryo/temper units.
- Maintain tight process control to ensure metallurgical integrity and adherence to quality standards.
- Coordinate with the on-site metallurgist and laboratory staff to perform testing and validation.
- Monitor gas analyzers for carburizing furnaces, ensuring accurate control of the carburization process.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with heat treat equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects.
- Maintain detailed records of production and quality data.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in heat treat operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of carburizing, normalizing, austenitizing, and quenching processes. Familiarity with integral quench furnaces, quench presses, and gas analyzers preferred.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency with process control systems and data management.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in metallurgy or related field preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
