Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

Job Summary/Objective:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the production department, ensuring that all processes, materials, and equipment are optimized to meet production goals. This role involves overseeing daily operations, directing personnel, and maintaining high standards for quality and safety. The Supervisor also supports the Production Manager by taking on additional responsibilities in their absence and ensuring that all tasks are completed on schedule.
Essential Functions:
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce all safety rules and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
- Operational Oversight: Direct daily job assignments for department associates, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
- Equipment Setup: Assist in setting up and preparing equipment for batch production, ensuring readiness and functionality.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of raw materials with a focus on color, consistency, aroma, and texture. Report any sub-standard products to the Operations Manager immediately.
- Inventory Management: Utilize JD Edwards (JDE) system to manage inventory, ensuring that all necessary raw materials are available for daily production. Communicate with inventory control as needed.
- Paperwork and Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain all related paperwork, including production logs and inventory records.
- Production Scheduling: Collaborate with the scheduler to arrange and communicate efficient production schedules and daily work orders.
- Team Support: Provide training and support to team members on quality standards, machine operation, and batch production processes.
- Leadership: Supervise department operations in the absence of the Production Manager, ensuring continuity and adherence to production goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of department associates, with responsibility for assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Work Environment:
- The role is performed in a food manufacturing environment where temperatures may vary, and noise levels can be high. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, including hair nets, beard nets, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniforms.
Physical Demands:
- Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
- Bending/Lifting: Frequent bending, lifting, and twisting required during the shift.
- Heavy Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed throughout the workday.

Work Hours:
- Monday - Friday 4:00am - 12:30pm
- Flexibility is required in scheduling, including the ability to work varying shifts and schedules, including weekends and overtime as needed.

- No travel is required for this position.
Required Education & Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience in leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills: Successful completion of substance and physical screening; successful completion of math and English language exams.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience: At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Training: Training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), basic allergen handling, wash-down procedures, food defense, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.
- Certifications: Forklift experience with classroom certification.
