Position overview:

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, driven Supervisor, to lead 1st Shift Production. The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operation of 1st Shift Production.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Day shift production in forming and rolling which comprises a team of 3 leadman and workforce of 30+ team members.
  • Manage time, attendance, and daily performance.
  • Ensure compliance to all safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance to all quality standards and requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to schedules while maintaining efficiencies.
  • Maintain and communicate key performance indicators to the shop floor.
  • Develop and maintain a skilled work force.
  • Maintain work instructions and procedures related to manufacturing processes.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with safety, quality, engineering, tooling, and maintenance.

Qualifications – Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in basic manufacturing.
  • 2 years’ experience with computer automated MRP systems
  • 1 year’ experience supervising people
  • 1 year experience working in a regulated industry (i.e. aerospace, automotive, food processing, military, etc)
  • Experience maintaining OSHA safety requirements.
  • Experience maintaining to quality requirements, automotive preferred but not required.

Qualifications – Skills

  • Academic Skills – Solid math, writing, and verbal skills.
  • Communication – Good verbal communication skills – efficient message delivery to shop floor personnel is key to maintaining team cohesion, engagement, and morale.
  • Computer knowledge — Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Business Systems – Familiarity with ERP, MRP, and MES systems
  • Administration — Knowledge of business and management principles involved time, attendance, and performance management.
  • Production — Understanding of manufacturing processes and flows.

Qualifications - Education

  • Required – High School Diploma required, but College Degree in Engineering preferred.

Physical Demands / Travel

  • Physicality – Job is based on shop floor and requires the following:
    • Comfort in metal working environment
    • Comfort in loud environment
    • Shop floor work is 80% of time with desk is 20% of time.
    • 10 hour day, 5 days per week, plus some Saturdays
    • Ability to be on feet 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to lift 35lbs.
  • Travel – No travel required.
  • Environment – Fast paced, ever-changing environment.
