Production Supervisor

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to join our team. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision, direction, and coordination of plant activities related to production, quality, material flow, and maintenance. Working closely with the Plant Manager, this position provides leadership to production personnel and makes recommendations regarding hiring, training, employee development, and personnel assignments.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, manufacturing experience, and a solid understanding of machinery, production processes, equipment, and materials. This position requires the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a safe, productive, and positive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and operational goals are met.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to production employees and team members.
  • Monitor production processes, equipment, materials, and workflow to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and productivity.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager to address staffing needs and make recommendations regarding hiring, training, employee assignments, and re-assignment.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees to improve performance, productivity, teamwork, and overall effectiveness.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and promote a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to address equipment issues and minimize production downtime.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure production activities comply with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production, equipment, material, and process-related problems.
  • Ensure proper material flow throughout the production process.
  • Monitor production performance and assist in identifying root causes of inefficiencies, quality issues, and production delays.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining graphs, charts, and reports related to the efficiency and quality of the rotational molding department.
  • Communicate production goals, priorities, expectations, and performance results to employees.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately and ensure tasks are completed effectively and on schedule.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Understanding of mechanical equipment, machine operation, and basic maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a focus on employee development and team building.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and follow up on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, and management teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain sound employee relations with professionalism, maturity, and good judgment.
  • Ability to analyze production information and assist with efficiency and quality reporting.

Education

  • Required/Preferred: Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • Preferred: 1–3 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, production team leadership, or a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience working with manufacturing machinery, processes, equipment, and materials is strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • No specific certifications required.

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing/plant environment and requires regular interaction with production employees, maintenance personnel, management, and other departments. The Production Supervisor must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and employee development.
