Summary/objective

The Production Supervisor will monitor the food manufacturing operations to deliver maximum quality while ensuring a safe and efficient environment is achieved. This position will provide direction and supervision to production employees within the guidelines of standard work rules, policies and all local, state and federal regulations.

 

Essential functions

  • Provide work direction, supervision, and support to all production personnel (typically 25-40 team members depending on peak season) within the guidelines of standard work, company policy and local/state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor all stages of the production process to ensure proper and efficient process flows are followed to allow fulfillment of customer demand.
  • Ensure that all production paperwork and checks are completed on time and accurately. Immediately investigate any deviation of the standard work processes.
  • Engage and work closely with the proper personnel when there are disruptions to process flows.
  • Complete supervisory employee activities such as: scheduling for production team, reviewing and approving employee timecards, completing performance evaluations, mentoring, training, coaching, and following progressive disciplinary processes with employees as needed.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations in a a timely manner for all safety and food safety incidents that occur under the shift being supervised.
  • Supports implementation of Continuous Improvement programs, new methods, procedures, and systems to improve safety, quality and food safety and look for ways to proactively increase efficiency and contain costs.
  • Manages operations to comply with all applicable safety, food safety and environmental laws and regulations, as well as Company safety policies, food safety and quality procedures and standards.
  • Holds self and others accountable to all SupHerb policies, safety programs and food safety programs.
  • Conduct safety and food safety training with direct employees.
  • Work effectively with employees to promote positive and productive working relationships.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external developmental training programs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Competencies

  • Demonstrated leadership aptitude, team lead experience or supervisory experience.
  • Must have excellent communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Must have basic word/excel knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing process.
  • Able to show initiative and follow through on day-to-day responsibilities. 
  • Able to interact and work positively with others.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

  • Ability to occasionally reach with hands and arms, as well as walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb as well as lift, push and pull.
  • Ability to stand, walk on cold, wet environment.
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 20 pounds and reach overhead.

 

Travel required

  • 0-5% for potential external training

 

Required education and experience

  • 2-5 years of food manufacturing experience (preferably in the IQF process). 
  • 2 years of Supervision experience.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
