Production Supervisory Position – 2nd Shift
Production Supervisor Job Purpose: Manufactures products by supervising production staff, organizing, and monitoring work flow.
Job Description
- Carry out the manufacturing strategies and goals set by the operations manager and the upper management;
- Accomplish manufacturing staff results by
- communicating clear job expectations;
- planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
- coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees (must work with the management and HR);
- initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures;
- Maintain healthy staff by
- helping operations manager in recruiting, selecting, and orienting, reviewing, and training employees;
- Ensuring operator training is conducted and training effectiveness is sufficient for job assignment;

- Complete production plan by
- assigning personnel;

- monitoring progress;

- reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries;
- Ensure company employee standards of conduct are enforced
- Maintain employee attendance and disciplinary records;
- Work with management to resolve work problems, complaints, or grievances;
- Work with the production manager to plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals;
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and report to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs;
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources;
- maintain compliance with established policies and procedures;
- Recommend revisions after analyzing operating practices and personnel requirements;
- Work with the operations manager to establish and maintain a level-loaded finish good inventory of all goods;
- Ensure company safety standards are enforced
- Maintain safety documentation requirements;
- Corporate with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments or cells;
- Act as a catalyst of change
- Work as a change agent and to help in smooth transitioning as the case may be;
- Ensure timely material availability to production work cells;
- Order required components on time to avoid production delays
- Maintain a healthy stock of components in the production floor
- Manage tube/component inventory;
- Manage tube/component transfers between warehouses;
- Manage mill lengths;
- Manage bent tubes;
- Manage processed tubes;
- Perform physical inventory of tubes and other components;
- Maintain component buffer stocks
- Manage cell inventories of all components in the cell
- Distribute tubes to weld cells
- Schedule tube bending and processing based on the plant schedule;
- Partner with management to drive continuous improvement in the assigned cells and throughout the plant;
- Participate in daily production meeting with production management, purchasing and customer service to ensure daily/weekly shipment are met and target finished goods inventory is maintained;
- Ensure company housekeeping and maintenance standards are maintained;
- Ensure Maintenance leaders timely repair and carry out preventative maintenance of equipment;
- by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques;
- Report cell, employee, and plant performance data to enable generation of Plant KPI’s, (OTD, Overtime, attendance, Scrap, Cell Efficiency);
- Create and implement corrective actions to KPI’s that do not meet targets.
Job Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of two-year college degree in business, engineering, or any other related field from a USA accredited school system or at least 7 years’ experience in manufacturing supervision in a similar environment or combination of the two
- Must be able to use and analyze data using excel and other related software.
- Must have background in manufacturing, production, automotive, or related fields.
- Must have authorization to work in the USA.
- Must be organized and coordinated.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
- Must possess behaviors that command respect and support.
- Ability to work flexibly – various shifts plus weekends if need arises
