Mel-O-Cream Donuts is in institution in Springfield, having been in business since 1932. While our roots are in the donut shop, today we are supplying bakeries throughout the Mid-West from our manufacturing plant on Springfield’s west side. Like so many businesses, we have been challenged to find the right people to staff our facility.

What do we do? We make donuts. This involves mixing dough, processing, cutting, shaping, and forming donuts. Some products are filled, glazed, or iced. This is done in a 30,000 square foot manufacturing area. While working in our production department, can seem hectic, there are those out there who thrive on being on their feet and working in a fast-paced environment, then this opportunity may be for you. Rate: $43,680-$52,000+ a year Compensation is commensurate to experience.

Requirements

Reports To: Production Manager

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Supervise Donut Production: Lead and manage the production team in the process of mixing dough, processing, cutting, shaping, and forming donuts. Ensure that the production process is carried out accurately and efficiently to meet production targets.
2. Quality Control: Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to ensure that all donuts meet our company's standards for taste, appearance, and consistency. Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain the highest quality products.
3. Safety Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture within the production team. Ensure that all employees adhere to safety guidelines and practices, reducing the risk of accidents and maintaining a safe work environment.
4. Training and Development: Provide training to new and existing production staff on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and best practices. Encourage professional growth and development within the team.
5. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of production equipment. Collaborate with maintenance personnel to promptly address any equipment issues to minimize downtime.
6. Team Management: Schedule and coordinate production shifts to ensure adequate coverage and smooth workflow. Address employee concerns, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain a positive and collaborative work atmosphere.
7. Production Planning: Work closely with the Production Manager to develop production schedules and ensure that production goals are met efficiently. Manage inventory levels and communicate with supply chain and procurement teams as needed.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the production department. Implement innovative strategies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications (Physical, Mental, Experience, Education):

Previous experience in production, manufacturing, or other related fields (WILL ALSO TRAIN THE RIGHT CANDIDATE)

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• In-depth knowledge of donut production processes and quality control standards.
• Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to enforce them effectively.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g SAP, Batchmaster, Great Plains).
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing top-quality products.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed.
