Job Overview:

General Summary

The primary responsibility of the Secondary Process/Production Supervisor is to be a hands-on leader and lead those functions required to keep the facility in compliance with parts production balances, as reflected in all site inventory systems. This is accomplished by setting daily schedules of orders to be processed, assigning work based on associates' knowledge and capabilities, and training and leading by example on specified equipment and knowledge of processes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):

  • Provide leadership and direction for day-to-day operation over a team of entry-level production employees to meet demand of both external and internal customers
  • Coordinate production to meet daily dispatch schedule and priorities
  • Plan daily production activities to support production plan and backlog
  • Lead reliability, compliance, quality and safety programs for assigned area; ensure required government and/or environmental regulations are met
  • Ensure team is fully trained in, committed to, and conduct their activities in accordance with all aspects of Safety and Quality systems and requirements, coordinating quality and safety training with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager
  • Monitor production/manpower levels within area of responsibility to ensure continued efficiency while anticipating problems and assisting with developing contingencies to address issues or production needs
  • Identify and address product quality issues and continually look for ways to improve processes at the plant
  • Maintain adequate inventory of production supplies
  • Oversee and manage inventory levels
  • Support 5S and Lean Projects and continuously identify ways to reduce plant operating costs through the incorporation of Operational Excellence strategies
  • Audit hourly employees' time cards for accuracy to ensure correct charges against production assignments
  • Approve hourly employees' timecards daily and timely
  • Evaluate employees' overall performance, establishing goals and objectives for proper manufacturing techniques
  • Maintain established housekeeping standards
  • Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Analyze production trends and quality, reduce scrap, and communicate results with senior management
  • Partner with all departments to ensure orders are processed according to schedule and in compliance
  • Supply process orders to Heat Treat
  • Partner with the Production Control Manager in the planning and execution of the annual physical inventory count
  • Meet established standards for productivity and quality; collaborate with manager when roadblocks arise that impact expected levels of performance and efficiencies
  • Enforce Company policies, safety and employee conduct in the workplace
  • Conduct meetings with employees regarding training, Company policies, safety, conduct and general information as required
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Coach, train, develop and hold associates accountable for performance and efficiencies
  • Handle routine personnel issues including training, coaching and counseling subordinates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Federal, State and local labor regulations
  • Safe lifting and material handling techniques in the use of common production equipment
  • Terminology used in general production operations

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally with strong interpersonal skills

  • Use PC skills proficiently with general knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on production operations experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferred, but not required
  • College degree or comparable business experience, preferably in the Aerospace industry

Environment:

  • Indoors within a manufacturing facility
  • Indoors around different areas of the manufacturing facility
  • Office area within the Machine Shop and Support office buildings

Physical Abilities:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to:

  • Bend and twist at the waist, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, kneel or squat while maneuvering dyes into place as needed
  • Lift up to 40 lbs. from ground level to waist repeatedly over the course of the shift
