The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing daily manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production of food products. The primary duty of this role is management of Production Team Members, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and operational performance.
This position exercises independent judgment in assigning work, evaluating performance, implementing process improvements, and supporting staffing decisions. The Production Supervisor ensures department performance through effective leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Leadership and Management
• Directly supervise Hourly Production Team Members and assign daily work responsibilities
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and development planning
• Provide input into hiring, promotion, and disciplinary decisions
• Establish performance expectations and accountability standards
• Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Warehouse, Maintenance, Technical Services and Food Safety & Quality, and HR
• Support new product launches and process improvements
• Communicate production issues and resource needs effectively
Financial Accountability
• Manage labor utilization and overtime
• Support efficient use of materials and resources
• Contribute to departmental productivity improvements
Education
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Food Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience
• 3–5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
• Experience leading Team Members in production setting
• Experience in food manufacturing preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to lead and direct Team Members
• Ability to make independent operational decisions
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
Preferred
• Knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, SQF requirements
• Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools
