Production Supervisor

Overview
The Production Supervisor serves as a key member of the plant leadership team and is responsible for creating a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, operational excellence, and compliance. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations on an assigned shift to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant production of quality products. This position is accountable for employee supervision, production performance, safety, quality, food safety, staffing, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting overall plant objectives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leadership & Employee Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop hourly production employees
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and respect
- Conduct employee coaching, performance discussions, and corrective action as necessary
- Participate in employee onboarding, training, and development activities
- Assist with staffing needs, scheduling, and workforce planning
Production Management
- Direct and coordinate shift operations to meet production, efficiency, and waste reduction goals
- Manage labor resources to support production schedules and customer requirements
- Review production schedules and deploy labor accordingly
- Monitor production output and make adjustments to maximize productivity
- Analyze downtime, scrap, and production losses and implement corrective actions
- Troubleshoot process, equipment, and material issues
- Ensure completion and accuracy of production documentation
- Monitor staffing levels and adjust resources as operational needs change
- Lead shift change communication and ensure continuity between shifts
Safety Leadership
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
- Conduct safety observations, safety discussions, and safety audits
- Lead incident investigations and corrective action activities
- Ensure employees utilize required PPE and follow safe work practices
- Promote proactive hazard identification and risk reduction
- Support continuous improvement of plant safety performance
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities
- Promote and support SQF certification requirements
- Ensure compliance with GMP requirements and food safety standards
- Conduct and support internal GMP and SQF audits
- Coach employees on proper food safety and GMP practices
- Immediately address food safety, product quality, or regulatory concerns
- Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation
- Support operational excellence initiatives and cost reduction efforts
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing experience
- Minimum three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading teams in a fast-paced production environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualification
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Lean Manufacturing training or certification
- Six Sigma certification
- Experience in food packaging or regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience working in SQF-certified facilities
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and industrial equipment
- Frequent presence on the production floor is required, with extended periods of standing and walking. Work schedules may vary based on production requirements
- Extended hours, weekend work, holiday coverage, and emergency call-in support may be required
Physical Requirements

Compensation
A reasonable estimate of the current range is ** $66,000 - $85,000 + bonus + benefits**. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
