The Panel Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the personnel, production output, safety, and quality within the Panel Processing Department. This highly skilled leadership role requires excellent multitasking abilities, strong managerial skills, a deep understanding of product flow, and proficiency in machinery operations. Additionally, the position involves supervising, training, and guiding team members, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely.

  

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage, train, and motivate production staff to meet performance goals. Assign tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure compliance with company policies. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Production Planning & Execution: Ensure daily production schedules are met while maintaining efficiency. Monitor workflow and adjust processes to optimize productivity. Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Enforce quality standards and conduct inspections to ensure products meet specifications. Identify defects or process issues and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Panel Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of cut components for accuracy, material defects, and quality adherence.      Ensure early identification and resolution of issues before downstream processes.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor raw material inventory (e.g., sheet goods, laminates), manage stock rotation, and coordinate      material availability with purchasing and warehouse teams to avoid downtime.
  • Safety & Maintenance Oversight: Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures. Identify potential hazards and implement safety improvements. Coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Track production metrics, analyze performance data, and generate reports. Identify areas for process improvement and implement Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Panel Oversight: Supervise the cut and preparation of cabinet components, ensuring each meets specifications and Tharp quality standards.
  • Coordination with Production Manager: Collaborate to align production schedules, manage workflow, and ensure timely delivery of assembled cabinets.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • In-depth knowledge of CNC operations, woodworking machinery, and material handling
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate wood components for quality and conformance
  • Understanding of inventory systems and materials management
  • Independent decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication and coordination across departments

Education and Formal Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required

Licenses Needed:

  • Tharp Forklift Certification

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience with CNC equipment in a production setting
  • 1–2 years of Lead or Supervisory experience required
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred

Equipment

  • All hand tools and power tools used in Tharp shop
  • CNC routers, beam saws, and stationary woodworking machinery

Physical Activities and Safety

  • Physical Demands: 75% standing, 25% walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push a 300 lb. cart (with assistance).
  • Safety: Adhere strictly to company safety policies. Use all required PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection. Machine guards must be used when required.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a high standard of workplace safety when operating machinery, handling materials, and conducting inspections.
