POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible for implementing and supervising daily activities in the production area to ensure manufacturing goals and project deadlines are met while maintaining compliance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs), environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and any other regulations that may apply. They ensure their team is able to meet customer committments at the highest standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for supervising the day-to-day production, troubleshooting, scheduling, staffing, material management, compliance, training and auditing activities –to meet customer requirements including deadlines and quality standards.
- Champion a Safety Culture – Ensure Lock out tag out procedures are followed, maintain the highest safety and envrionmental standards, act as primary lead for first responders, and ensure cGMP is held to the highest standards.
- Conduct safety audits as required to spot check and ensure current practices are followed and enforced.
- Ensure all maintenance and production work is carried out according to established OSHA and Chicago site safe work practices.
- Ensure ISO, Food Safety, GFSI and API standards are met at all times.
- Respond to, and communicate through the appropriate channels all safety incidents, operating inefficiencies, downtime, root cause analysis (including lessons learned), and housekeeping issues.
- Drive continuous improvements refining and improving processes and equipment operations in the manufacturing areas.
- Drive the utilization of resources and raw materials in the most efficient and productive manner possible.
- Hold each employee accountable for performing daily duties and directed tasks. Address any behavioral or performance issues with employee’s immediately and discipline when necessary in compliance with the Contract.
- Interview, hire, coach, motivate, and develop team. Assist in setting performance objectives and hold team to key performance indicators such as feed rate standards and yields.
- Facilitate and verify appropriate training for employees in the area.
- Provide a positive and equitable working environment emphasizing the company values and behaviors.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of chemical manufacturing experience supporting production. They can demonstrate effective leadership and coaching, ensuring efficient operations with a focus on safety and quality standards. They have a proven track record of problem solving and an ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills & Talents
More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related filed required.
- 2-3 years of Supervisory experience.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime when necessary.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate thoughts in a professional manner (verbal and written).
- Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to analyze and solve problems related to manufacturing, Quality, documentation, and personnel issues. Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs, manage multiple priorities and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Chemical manufacturing experience highly preferred.
