Schedule: Sunday night - Thursday morning, 8:00 pm - 6:00 am
POSITION SUMMARY
To supervise a group of hourly employees in an area of work that involves the manufacturing and/or assembly of customer production components and assemblies. Oversee the production process within the facility to ensure timely delivery of parts and components.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership to Team Leaders and Team Members:
- Understand subordinates’ jobs and roles, demonstrating expertise in the specific area
- Responsibility – knows and enforces policies, procedures, safety practices, and organization
- Ability to problem solve and demonstrate resourcefulness
- Mentoring, Teaching, and Coaching all team members
- Leadership – Role model that directs people fairly through the use of goals and standards
- Direct and coordinate manpower, parts and process flow to minimize work in progress, eliminate shortages and maximize efficiency.
- Analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, other records and reports in order to determine production requirements. Evaluate production requirements and outputs achieving daily rates in a linear fashion while monitoring product quality to achieve a superior quality reputation.
- Observe work and monitor gauges, dials and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. Coach and hold team leaders accountable for standardized work instructions and quality adherence.
- Establish, evaluate and communicate goals for each area. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and shifts, then coordinating the team leaders/teams to meet these requirements.
- Maintain discipline through enforcement of company policies and regulations.
- Demonstrate equipment operations, work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers/team leaders for training.
- Identify/problem solve issues with materials, products and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production schedules to meet production goals. Maintain employee performance records. Respond to HR on absenteeism topics and issue discipline accordingly.
- Monitor daily and weekly overtime ensuring policy compliance while meeting or exceeding productivity requirements. Hold employees accountable to productivity standards on a daily basis.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints or grievances.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders and company policies and procedures for workers.
- Thorough understanding of continuous improvement in manufacturing, problem solving, and shop floor management principles.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a managerial role within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with welding, painting, sheet metal work, production fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software and ERP systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
