Production Manager – 2nd Shift

This opportunity as a **2nd Shift Production Manager **offers the chance to lead shop floor operations for a well-established, debt-free manufacturer specializing in custom stainless steel foodservice equipment. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong fabrication knowledge who thrives in a fast-paced production setting and enjoys developing teams while improving operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise all shop floor manufacturing operations, including sheet metal, welding, polishing, assembly, refrigeration, and electrical departments
• Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production volume, quality, cost, and safety
• Ensure production schedules are met and oversee all production personnel activities
• Maintain clear communication with 1st Shift leadership and Director of Manufacturing for seamless shift transitions
• Train, evaluate, and develop team members, including performance management and discipline
• Manage material shortages and ensure proper inventory levels and accurate production documentation
• Promote and enforce workplace safety standards across all departments
• Address equipment, facility, and maintenance issues impacting production
• Lead and support continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives
• Track labor hours, maintain shop schedules, and manage procurement needs
• Communicate engineering changes and required corrections through leadership channels
• Perform other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
• 5+ years of experience supervising teams of 20–40 employees in a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience fabricating and assembling sheet metal components required
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills within a production environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications
• Knowledge of material gauges and various sheet metal types (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.)
• Experience with CNC fabrication equipment (lasers, brake presses, tubing cutters, saws, routers)
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to inspect and troubleshoot production issues
• Proficiency with MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs
• Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow evaluation
Preferred Experience:
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Experience in stainless steel fabrication or custom equipment manufacturing environments
• Background in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, corrective actions)
