Description

In this Key role, we are looking for a dedicated Production Supervisor who embraces continuous improvement and Gemba (Go and See) culture to oversee our powder coatings manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure adherence to quality standards, and foster a culture of excellence among production teams. This includes adoption and support of 5S standards.


The ideal candidate will deliver unparalleled service while providing responsiveness, expertise, customization, and reliability. They will create an overall positive experience for the customer and our employees with thorough communication and reporting capabilities to insure timely delivery, inventory management and problem-solving capabilities, while ensuring the safest work environment for our employee’s.


Champion of Environmental Health and Safety

  • Follow and enforce all environmental health and safety procedures. Report all near misses, incidents, and hazards. Continuously promote our safety culture throughout the company and drive our safety culture with our employees.

Champion of Continuous improvement and Gemba (Go and See) Culture

  • Promote the principles of Kaizen (continuous improvement) and Gemba (go and see) to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and optimize production processes.
  • Lead daily Gemba walks to observe operations firsthand, identify inefficiencies, and collaborate with teams to implement effective solutions.

Production Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate production activities, ensuring compliance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality metrics, and downtime, taking proactive measures to meet or exceed targets.
  • Hold employees accountable to company policies and procedures and provide corrective action as needed with clear expectations.
  • Review product staged in weigh-up department and compare to the run rates on the production lines while evaluating turnaround time to keep a continuous workflow through manufacturing of products.
  • Prepare mix schedules - once weighed the product must be dumped and mixed and then prioritized with the lead person to determine the next product to be mixed.
  • Prioritize task order for precheck based on priority of schedule and ensure safe and correct operation of all equipment while providing direct support to employees and teams.
  • Flexibility to work with scheduling adjustments for rush batches to deliver unparalleled service to customers meeting short turnaround time.
  • Coordinate employee lunches and absences to maintain efficiency and operations of lines.

Team Development and Engagement

  • Coach and mentor production team members fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Empower team members to participate in Kaizen events and improvement projects, encouraging ownership and innovation on the shop floor.

Process Improvement Initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., maintenance, quality assurance) to identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies to streamline workflows, reduce lead times, and enhance overall operational efficiency.


Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to quality control procedures and product specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support quality audits and inspections, addressing any non-conformances promptly and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Evaluate quality of powder from processing point of view and work together with QC to meet customer specification.
  • Make sure all samples are getting sent to QC timely based on the QC frequency chart.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in a process-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Powder coatings experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of or ability to learn and implement 5s and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of powder coatings manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
