Summary
The Production Supervisor’s responsibilities include supervising production shifts as assigned on a rotating basis, including process, packaging, and yard personnel. It may also include maintenance resources assigned to shift rotation. The scope of supervision extends to maintenance and housekeeping duties. The Production Supervisor is responsible for safety, quality, and productivity through direct leadership and coordination of production operators in a union-free, highly involved workplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Drive productivity and support continuous improvement through sound management practices, including communication of goals, training of operators, operation of machines within established process specifications, and identification and resolution of production-related issues.
- Maximize production efficiencies, achieve targeted raw material usages, and minimize yield losses while producing high-quality product in a safe manner.
- Troubleshoot and quickly resolve production method or machinery issues that are impacting run rates, downtime, or quality.
- Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping, and defined standards of training.
- Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures, conduct inspections of plant areas, and ensure deficiencies found are resolved or appropriately communicated.
- Ensure the production crew is well-trained, involved, and committed to meeting production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Serve as Emergency Response Team lead as assigned and maintain emergency response training.
- Partner with EHS Management and Human Resources to conduct a thorough investigation of any safety or production line incidents.
- Maintain an excellent quality level of product while producing at the lowest cost.
- Monitor key operating parameters to ensure the product adheres to specifications while minimizing raw material usage.
- Work with production operators to identify and reduce controllable quality issues.
- Ensure each operator completes required quality checks.
- Review results of audits performed by the QA department and communicate to the production crew.
- Support operator participation in Natural Work Teams and ensure implementation of identified improvements.
- Provide leadership and direction to the production crew on a daily basis.
- Ensure production operators receive appropriate training for their positions.
- Participate in the selection discussion for filling open operator positions and participate in the interview process for new production personnel.
- Support communication throughout the plant and maintain a union-free workplace.
- Understand and feel comfortable communicating the bonus program so that employees understand their ability to impact results and maximize Operating Income.
- Schedule production teams based on plant needs and manage coverage and cross-training of team members.
- Complete all required administrative duties, such as shift reports and other required daily production data entry, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Address performance issues with employees as required.
- Provide effective employee feedback using the performance evaluation process.
- Monitor and address poor attendance issues in a timely manner.
- Work with the Production Manager to solicit and obtain coverage for absences and vacations.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping for production employees.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

- Must be able to climb a ladder and/or stairs.
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enables the use of office machinery.
- Oral and auditory capacity enables interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
- Occasionally operate business machines.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading.

- High school graduate or equivalent Bachelor’s degree preferred
- A minimum of five (5) years of supervisor experience in manufacturing
- Experience supervising a non-union workforce

Annual Salary Range: 85,500-109,250
