Role: Production Supervisor – Mat Operations
Location: Chester, South Carolina
Department: Production
Type: Full Time

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor provides leadership for a manufacturing shift at IKO’s new greenfield Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, South Carolina, scheduled to start up in Q1–Q2 of 2025. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role will oversee nine direct reports and play a key role on the operational readiness team during the plant build. The Production Supervisor will contribute to training and operational documentation development, support workforce selection, and later lead production start-up activities on their assigned shift. This role requires strong leadership, a passion for safety, and expertise in high-speed manufacturing processes to engage and motivate employees while ensuring operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing leadership to fully engage employees and foster a productive work environment

  • Promote a strong safety culture, investigating near-misses, injuries, and workplace hazards, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

  • Conduct safety inspections and facilitate programs such as behavior-based safety

  • Ensure employees receive proper training on safety, quality, and production procedures; lead cross-training and employee development initiatives

  • Motivate and inspire the team to achieve optimum performance across plant operations

  • Collaborate with other supervisors to achieve plant-wide performance metrics

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality

  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to resolve production and quality issues, addressing root causes and sustaining corrective actions

  • Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, and administer corrective action plans as needed

  • Manage shift scheduling, timekeeping (Kronos), and completion of shift reports

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment at all times

  • Participate in rotational shift coverage as required

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent production leadership experience

  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience required; high-speed manufacturing experience preferred

  • Fiberglass mat plant or equivalent industry experience ideal

  • Knowledge, training, or experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and analytical communication skills

  • Proven track record of operational improvements through employee engagement

  • Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office preferred

  • Ability to grow, mentor, and motivate talent to achieve operational excellence

  • Strong process and financial acumen

  • Experience with plant start-ups preferred, but not required
