Supervises employees using machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision of all clean room suite personnel including, but not limited to, personnel work schedules (in conjunction with Production Manager or Manufacturing Management personnel), personnel adherence to aseptic practices (when applicable), timesheet approvals, PTO requests, performance reviews, etc.
  • Supervision of day-to-day clean room suite operations (cGMP or non-cGMP) as assigned by the Production Manager or Manufacturing Management personnel to support the objectives of the Manufacturing Group, the Company and/or the client.
  • Operations may include development / engineering / clinical / commercial batch manufacturing and associated documentation or ancillary support operations including, but not limited to, metrics tracking / trending and associated output requirements, management of equipment preventive maintenance, calibration management, management of supply procurement in support of suite activities, SOP generation or revision, execution of IQ/OQ/PQ requirements.
  • Provision of leadership in following management direction in support of client or company activities and/or relevant SOP’s, Work Instructions, cGMP / non-cGMP / GLP regulations and procedures.
  • Provision of leadership in generating and maintaining thorough and accurate documentation in support of SOP, cGMP / non-cGMP, and GLP regulated activities.
  • Provision of leadership in following safety practices and procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for the type of hazard and exposure potential and active participation in identifying and resolving safety issues.
  • Provision of leadership in actively seeking out and identifying opportunities related to the maintenance, calibration, and improvement of company facilities, equipment, and procedures; taking corrective action independently and/or as directed by management.
  • Training of clean room suite technicians and technical staff.
  • Participation in client phone/video conferences.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with Project Managers and/or clients on technical aspects of the project.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge through review of current technical/scientific literature and/or attendance of technical/scientific conferences.
  • Grow leadership skills through review of leadership/management literature and/or attendance of leadership/management seminars.


REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA or higher in a relevant scientific discipline with a sufficiently demonstrated level of performance and capability, as determined by management and a minimum of 3 years experience overall with experience leading direct reports.
  • Conduct assigned tasks under minimal supervision of senior staff; utilize experience, scientific knowledge, and technical creativity to independently determine and propose methods and approaches to meet project goals and objectives and resolve technical challenges; work on multiple activities in parallel and multi-faceted manufacturing operations with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of proposing criteria to be used to evaluate whether operations goals and objectives have been met.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant scientific principles and theories as well as the capability to use and apply standard scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the scientific principles pertaining to, and capable in the operation of, standard processing and manufacturing equipment including, but not limited to, isolators/glove boxes, homogenizers, extruders, pumps, stirred-reactors, etc.
  • Recognize unanticipated or adverse outcomes or deviations; able to use technical expertise, experience, and creativity to evaluate and identify causes of unanticipated or adverse outcomes or deviations and to propose corrective action or resolutions for problems of increasing complexity; able to independently take corrective action to resolve technical problems of suitable complexity.
  • Knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment and safety protocols and practices related to working with or exposure to hazardous chemicals that could potentially affect the health of the employee.
  • Ability to:
    • Perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time;
    • Sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area;
    • Stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area;
    • Grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation);
    • Reach for objects above the head or below the waist;
    • Stoop or crouch by bending at the waist or by bending the legs;
    • Determine colors
  • Knowledge in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and project/presentation software programs.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and effectively communicate observations, results, and outcomes to more senior technical staff
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Technical skills, knowledge, and creativity to independently propose, develop, implement, and evaluate new methods and processes for activities of a reasonable scope and complexity.
  • Experience with a variety of standard and novel processing and manufacturing methods, equipment, and instruments.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior staff, at internal company meetings and with clients on technical aspects of experiments and research programs.
  • Ability to train people and lead manufacturing/operations or technical activities.
  • Conduct activities with consideration of time schedules and overall project goals and objectives.
